Create a new canvas of 720x540 and set your background to #586B7F and your foreground to #FFFFFF this is going to be our workspace, the logo is going to be a blue style logo but if you want to use any different colors then feel free.
First what we're going to do is create a shape using the Pen Tool - The pen tool is a misused tool within photoshop, some people don't actually know what it's used for. If yo don't know how to use the pen tool, just use your Elliptical Marquee Tool.
To get the exact shape I used would be very hard, so I'm going to show you how I done it and hopefully you'll get something simalar.
Firstly grab the Pen Tool and mark out 4 corners, like a square, as shown below:

As you can see it's not perfectly streight, but this dosen't really matter anyway because you're going to mould with it.
Now you have your square you can start converting the corners to curves so right click your Pen Point bar and click convert Pen Point bar as shown below:

With this tool you can click the corners of your square and drag them out to make curves. Make sure you keep your finger on your Shift Key as you're doing this to keep the lines streight. This is how it's done below:

Do this to the other corners and keep playing until you have something you like, here's how mine ended up:

Again like I said it'll be hard for you to actually get the same shape as me unless you played about for hours, but it'll all look good in the end, don't worry!
Now we have our shape ready we can add some layer styles so go ahead and set the following on your shape:

*NOTE* This is another one of my custom gradients, below you will find the colors needed to create it:
Ok so now we've applied our layer styles you should have something that looks a little like this:

Ok now we're going to add a nice shadow effect over the top of our shape so CTRL+CLICK the layer and go to Select>Modify>Contract and contract the shape by 6px.
Now you have the contracted outline, make a new layer above your shape and grab your Foreground to Transparent gradient tool and drag down the shape so you end up with soething like this:
On this shine layer set the opacity to 10% and it should turn into something like this:
So now we have the base of the logo done, we can start adding bits and bobs and make this look schweeeeeet.
Take your Elliptical Marquee tool and make yoursel a nice oval shape in the middle of your origional shape, here's what I came up with:
Next we want to set the layer styles and make this blend into our shape so go ahead and do the following:

Again this is a custom gradient so here's the colors:

So our shape should be starting to look good now, here's mine:
Now we need to spice it up a little and get something inside of that oval.
CTRL+CLICK the oval shape and go top Select>Modify>Contract>3px then make a new layer above it and again make a shine using the Foreground to Transparent gradient. Your shape hould now look something like this:
Set the shine layer mode to Soft Light and it should tone right down and look like this:

now again we're going to add another shine, so grab your Elliptical Marquee tool and make a selection along the top of the oval. Create a new layer and make a shine again, here's mine:
I set the opacity on my shine to 50% just so it didn't look too bright. It's up to you if you even want to add that shine, I just think it adds to the effect.
Now we need to add some text so I've decided to add a S for Sconner, you can add whatever you like. Once you've ghot your text ready, set the following styles:

Now our logo is best part complete, here's how mine ended up:

You can keep adding to this if you like, you can do whatever you want until you are happy, I've given you the foundations now you advance on this until your heart is content.
