Google Announces the Launch of AdWords API Beta

Google was scooped by the Internet community on its latest launch. Reports came in from SiliconValleyWatcher on January 20, a full week before the official announcement, which is the following: Google Inc. launched AdWords API (Application Programming Interface) Beta program on Thursday, to give greater and more flexible access to search-based advertising systems.

API enables software developers to monitor the web for new information, to glean insights and trends over time, to invent online games, to create UI for searching, and to add Google's very own spell-checking to any application.

Three steps are will lead you to writing your own programs using this new program:

  • Download a developer's kit which provides documentation and example code for this new service is simple. Click here.
  • Create a Google account and obtain a license key.
  • Write your program using your license key, which must be including with every submitted query

You will probably notice that Google's new program most astutely uses SOAP and WSDL standards so developers can work in any of his favorite environments, whether it's Java, Perl, or Visual .NET.

“The AdWords API beta program is an open invitation to developers to explore new concepts (and then write great software) for managing Google AdWords advertising campaigns,” said product manager Josh McFarland and software engineer Nelson Minar. They contend that elitism is a badge of honor, not a chip on the shoulder, and encourage people to sign up for a developer's token.
