1. We will begin by turning on the rulers. You can do this by going to view>rulers.

image 1

2. Next we are going to bring out multiple rulers which will serve as guidelines for the letter 'E' in the logo. You can bring out the rulers by click and holding mouse 1 on the ruler bar and dragging out your cursor into the document.

3. To make things easier I drew in a rough outline with the brush tool (B). I then turned the opacity down to about 50%.

image 3

4. Next select the rectangular marquee tool (M) and make sure the 'add to selection' option is set. Make sure snap is enabled (view>snap) and begin selecting the parts you want to fill.

image 4

5. As you can see this is my 'E' design for the logo. This is what it looks like after selecting everything.

image 5

6. Next create a new layer if not done yet. Fill in the selection with any color (because we are going to added a color overlay later).

image 6

7. Minimize this document and create a new one with these settings. Make the size 4x4 NOT 5x8. You can call it logo-pattern.

image 7

8. Zoom all the way in and select the pencil tool (B) and make it a size 1px. Fill in the top 4 pixels with black like shown.

image 8

9. This is what you should get:

10. Go to file>define pattern and give it a good descriptive name. You can now close this document with or without saving.

image 10

11. Open back up your original logo document and create a new layer called pattern.

image 11

12. Select the paint bucket tool (G), choose pattern from the top settings bar like shown. Then open up the available pattern tab and choose the pattern you just made.

image 12

13. On your pattern layer simply click to fill it with the pattern. You will need to move this layer down below the 'E' layer so that the 'E' is visible (once we give it a different color than black).

image 13

14. Next go into free transform mode (Ctrl+T) and rotate the pattern layer to get a desired angle. Press enter to apply the transformation. I hid the 'E' layer to make this more visible.

image 14

15. Next select the crop tool (C) and crop within the angled pattern. This will end up being the size of the logo.

image 15

16. Here is what you should have.

image 16

17. Now we are going to give the 'E' an angle. For this layer, go into free transform mode and rotate it so it looks something like this:

image 17

18. Now select your background layer (your bottommost layer) and select the gradient tool (G). Make your foreground color #0c1325 and your background color #24478d.

image 18

19. Going from bottom to top, draw a gradient line while holding shift (to make it straight) to make your gradient. Make sure to do it on your background layer (I named it 'gradient').

image 19

20. Now go back to your pattern layer and go to filter>blur>gaussian blur. Give it a value of around .5 pixels.

image 20

21. Next go into blending options for your 'E' layer. If your 'E' layer is below your pattern layer (like shown here) move it to the top.

22. You should get something like this:

Now you can add the company name to the right. I used the font Oliver's Barney for 'Extreme', and Century Gothic for 'Wireless'.
