Here you will be tought how to engrave on any material.

1) First you will need 2 things before we start. I material and a font called Cretino. Once you have download the font, just copy it into your fonts folder in the Windows directory.

If you placed the font in the Windows font folder after you have started PS, you will need to restart PS.

I used the metal texture from my metal tutorial as the material. You can use this or any texture that you have.

2) Select the Horizontal Type Mask Tool and select the Cretino font that you just downloaded. Make the font size very large I made mine 290.

3) Make a new layer. Now click on the new layer and type in any capital letter.
I chose the letter T. Heres what I have so far.

4) Now click on the texture layer (Background layer) and copy and paste. EDIT > COPY. EDIT > PASTE

5) Click on the new layer that was just created (layer 2) and go to LAYER > STYLE > INNER SHADOW. Click OK. It should now look like this.

6) Now go to IMAGE > ADJUSTMENTS > BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST. I like to set it to -35 Brightness and -5 Contrast.

7) Now you have an engraved letter T. But that doesn't look to nice. So Im going to delete everything on layer 2 except the bottom line. Heres what Im left with.

Engraving Tutorial: Final Result

Now this doesn't look like much, but if you repeat steps 3-6, choose differnt letters and positions you can create an very nice effect. Heres something I made a while back using this technique.
