Step 1
Open our photo.
Step 2
Copy "background" layer using Ctrl + J on keyboard. Name that new layer "copy_back". Insert new layer and name it "blank". Put it below "copy_back" layer. You can now erase "background" layer.
Step 3
Click on "copy_back" layer. Go to theselect - Color Range. You'll get window in which you have to choose color you areselecting.
With plus tool add some more color and with fuzziness slider adjustselection until you are satisfied with result. Click OK.
Step 4
Now we haveselected blue color around object we want to extract. Press Del on keyboard to Delete this color.
Step 5
Now we have to desaturate whole photo and after that use Levels command to fine tune our future brush.
To desaturate photo you press Shift + Ctrl + U on keyboard. After desaturation press Ctrl + L to bring Levels menu on screen. Make it looks like this
Step 6
We now have to size down our image. Press Ctrl + Alt + I and enter value for width 400px. Height will automatically change to 409px.
Now we have to Sharpen image a little bit. Go to the Filter - Sharpen - Smart Sharpen and make values like on the picture below.
Step 7
Press Ctrl and left click on "copy_back" layer. This willselect our object. Go to Edit - Define brush preset and name brush "flowers"
Step 8
You can close photo on which we were working because we won't need it anymore. Open new project, 800x800,select Brush tool and from the brushesselect "flowers" brush. It's probably last in the order.select color and brush. And this is final result
