This is a very powerful tutorial right here. One of the reason's I'm producing it is because I couldn't find anywhere online that would actually show me how to do this (create and publish an HTML ezine), so I had to figure it out by myself. Now I'm sharing this HTML knowledge with you. It's really quite simple now that I look at it but it was so frustrating to not have known and to find no one that would just teach it. It's a very important skill to know in today's digital day and age.
Here I've designed the logo header for the ezine in Photoshop. You can see I'm using Minion font. I want to produce something that is slightly different than the website yet still recognizable as part of the TutorialKey empire.
You can note that the first letters are made a little larger in the Character palette than the rest of the test. This is just typography in action.
When I am finished creating my logo header in Photoshop I'll then export it for web with the Save for Web command.
So let's get started. It's very important to use Photoshop. Photoshop is a strong part of the web design element. I admit I am a guru at graphic design & Photoshop but only mediocre at web design. Web design is something I've got a long ways to go on compared to Photoshop but these are incredible skills to have knowledge of. As a good web designer, Photoshop can be your perfect content source provider as well as with a few other programs (ie. Image Ready, Illustrator, GoLive, etc.)
Here are the colors of the custom gradient that I've created. You can use the eyedropper tool to draw from other sources in creating your color stops.
Here you can see the custom color stops of the gradient I'm creating and saving. After I have created the gradient, I'm using the radial gradient tool to create the background layer as a nice gradient spread as you can see beneath the typography.
Save your new gradient with a name.
Just do a quick gradient swipe in the center of the background layer on radial to produce this effect.
Create a new layer and fill it with a colored selection like this for the line headers.
