1. Begin with a new file, 700x600 with #CDCDCD as your background color. Then create a new layer, then take the Polygonal Lasso Tool and make a shape similar to the one below.
2. Now head over to the channels palette and click on the Save selection as channel icon. Then click on the Alpha 1 channel, then press Ctrl+D to deselect. Now go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur and set the Radius to 8 pixels. And then press Ctrl+L and apply this settings.
3. Then click on the Load channel as selection icon, then go back to the layers palette and click on layer 1, now right click inside your shape and choose Fill, and fill the shape with #003313.
4. Now when you have your shape selected create a new layer, and then go to Edit>Stroke and set the Width to 1px, color black and Location Center. Then go back to layer 1 and apply this settings.
5. Create a new layer and then move that layer below layer 1. Then once again take the Polygonal Lasso Tool and make a shape similar to the one below.
6. Then fill that shape with the same color you have on your larger shape. Then repeat step 4. And now should it look something like this.
7. Then add some text to your header and some inset lines. We have a short tutorial right here on how to create Inset Lines.
8. Create a new layer, then use the Polygonal Lasso Tool and make a shape similar to the one below.
9. Now repeat step 3 and 4. And now should it look something like this.
10. Then do the same steps for the content box. Now should you have something like this.
Then add some text to your navigation, content box and that's it your done! This is what I came up with.
